Delete your Kindred account
You can delete your Kindred account at any time, yourself, in a few taps. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
In the iPhone or iPad app
- Open Kindred and sign in.
- Go to the Me tab.
- Tap Delete account at the bottom.
- Enter your password (or, if you signed up with Google or Apple and have no password, type the confirmation word) and confirm.
In the Android app
- Open Kindred and sign in.
- Go to the Me tab.
- Tap Delete account at the bottom.
- Enter your password (or, if you signed up with Google or Apple and have no password, type the confirmation word) and confirm.
On the web
- Go to www.kindredplace.app/app and sign in.
- Open the Me tab.
- Choose Delete account at the bottom.
- Enter your password (or, if you signed up with Google or Apple and have no password, type the confirmation word) and confirm.
What is deleted
- Your account and profile, and your sign-in details
- Your posts (with their photos), comments and likes
- Your memberships in family trees
- Your registered devices and message-channel preferences
Copies in our backups are removed within 60 days.
What stays for your family
- People you added to a family tree, including the person card that represented you, stay in the tree for your family, no longer linked to your account. A tree admin can remove them, or you can ask us to.
- Messages already delivered by email, WhatsApp or SMS stay in the recipients’ inboxes; we can’t delete them.
Only want to step away from one family? You can leave a family tree instead, without deleting your account.
Can’t sign in?
Email info@kindredplace.app from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm it’s you and delete your account and data. You can also ask us to remove information a relative entered about you.
