Frequently asked questions
How do I invite my family?
Open your family tree and choose Invite family (or open a person and choose to invite them, so they are linked to their place in the tree). Pick their role, add a personal note if you like, and send the invitation. You can also share the link or invite code yourself from WhatsApp, email or text (often the nicest way).
What can each role do?
- Owner: created the family tree.
- Admin: can edit and manage members.
- Collaborator: can add people, photos, posts and events, and edits their own branch.
- Viewer: can look, like, comment and message.
Every change to the tree is saved in the edit history, and many can be undone.
Who can see our family tree?
Only people invited to your tree. Kindred is private by invitation: trees are not public or searchable, there are no ads, and we never sell your data. Read the Privacy Policy for details.
Which languages does Kindred speak?
English, Hebrew, Spanish, French, Russian and Arabic. Each person chooses their own language in Settings. Even the messages they receive by WhatsApp or email arrive in it. Hebrew and Arabic are shown right to left.
How do family messages reach people?
You write one message and Kindred delivers it on the channels each person has chosen: the Kindred app, WhatsApp, email or text message. Everyone picks their channels in Settings, and turning a channel off means no one can message them there. Announcements about Kindred itself are opt-in only.
Someone didn’t get my message. Why?
They may have turned that channel off, not added a phone number or email, or turned off notifications for Kindred on their device. Ask them to check their channels in Kindred’s Settings and their phone’s notification settings.
How do birthdays and reminders work?
Birthdays appear automatically from the dates in the tree. You can also add anniversaries, memorials and gatherings, and Kindred reminds the family ahead of time.
Can I print or share the whole tree?
Yes. Export the tree as an image or a PDF to share in the family chat, print, or frame.
Is there an Android app?
Yes. Get Kindred on Google Play for Android phones and tablets. On a computer, use Kindred in your browser at www.kindredplace.app/app. It’s the same family tree everywhere.
How do I delete my account?
In the app or on the web: Me → Delete account. People you added stay in the tree for your family. Full details.
